Job Description

The office park maintenance team in East London needs a qualified electrician who can work neatly and sign off safe installations. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

You'll be based at an office park maintenance team in East London. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What you'll actually do

Quote small jobs for clients and explain the fault in plain language
Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
Fault-find tripping circuits with a multimeter, insulation tester and loop tester
Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
Replace faulty light fittings, plugs, geyser elements and thermostats
Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment

What you need

Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces
Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence
Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
Solid working knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Valid Code 08 driver's licence

Nice if you have

PLC and motor control experience from a factory setting
Master Installation Electrician registration for three-phase CoCs
N3 electrical trade theory on top of your trade test
