Qualified Electrician (Residential Installations) – Fixed-Term

You'll wire, fault-find and certify installations for the solar and backup power installer in Newcastle. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll report in Newcastle. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
• Replace faulty light fittings, plugs, geyser elements and thermostats
• Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
• Complete job cards, material lists and test reports at the end of each job
• Test installations and issue Certificates of Compliance where your registration allows

• Valid Code 08 driver's licence
• At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test
• Solid working knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces
• Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
• Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence

• N3 electrical trade theory on top of your trade test
• Solar PV installation training and experience with hybrid inverters

• Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster
• Company-issued test instruments, calibrated every year
• Company bakkie for call-outs and travel between sites
• Provident fund and group risk cover after probation

• If you have issued CoCs before, say how many and for what type of property.
• Put your registration category (IE, MIE or single-phase tester) and registration number right under your name on the CV.
