Job Description

The office park maintenance team in Richards Bay needs a qualified electrician who can work neatly and sign off safe installations. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Home base is an office park maintenance team on the Richards Bay side of KwaZulu-Natal.

What you'll actually do

Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
Quote small jobs for clients and explain the fault in plain language
Run conduit, trunking and cable tray on new builds and renovations
Read electrical layouts and mark out point positions before chasing walls
Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment
Fault-find tripping circuits with a multimeter, insulation tester and loop tester
Complete job cards, material lists and test reports at the end of each job

You'll need

Solid working knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
Valid Code 08 driver's licence
Electrical trade test certificate (Section 13 or 26D) through a QCTO-accredited centre
Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence
