Job Description

Here is work for a technician who can find a leak fast and gas a system up properly, with the residential aircon installer in Richards Bay. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Richards Bay-based, with most of your time spent at a residential aircon installer.

What you'll actually do

Diagnose faulty compressors, fans, contactors and control boards
Respond to temperature alarms from cold rooms before stock is lost
Check chiller log sheets and water treatment on building service visits
Pressure test with nitrogen, pull a deep vacuum and charge with R410A, R32 or R134a
Install split units, cassettes and ducted systems, including brazing and vacuum work

What you need

Code 08 driver's licence, since the job is mostly on the road
Refrigeration and air-conditioning trade test or an NQF 4 occupational certificate
Brazing, flaring and vacuum skills you can demonstrate
Comfortable on roofs and ladders in summer heat

Helpful, not essential

Experience with VRF systems or chillers
CO2 transcritical refrigeration experience in retail stores
