Qualified Plumber (Residential Maintenance)

This private hospital maintenance department in Mthatha needs a plumber who arrives on time, fixes it properly and leaves the site clean. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll report in Mthatha. Relocation is not covered for this one. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Issue plumbing Certificates of Compliance for completed installations
• Trace hidden leaks using pressure tests and moisture readings
• Replace burst geysers and fit vacuum breakers, drip trays and pressure control valves to SANS 10254
• Install copper, PEX and PVC piping for new bathrooms and kitchens
• Service booster pumps, pressure tanks and water storage tanks
• Order fittings from the supplier and keep the van stocked
• Install and repair soil and waste pipes to SANS 10400 Part P

• Code 08 licence and a clean driving record
• Working knowledge of SANS 10252-1 and SANS 10254
• Able to talk politely to home owners about damage and costs
• PIRB registration as a Licensed Plumber, so you can issue plumbing CoCs
• Plumbing trade test certificate or an Occupational Certificate: Plumber (NQF 4)
• At least 3 years as a qualified plumber, including geyser replacements

• SAQCC Gas registration for LPG installations
• Drain camera and high-pressure jetting experience
• Experience with insurance repair work and claim paperwork

• Protective clothing and safety boots replaced yearly
• Cellphone allowance for job updates and photos
• Fully stocked service van with a fuel card
• Paid PIRB renewal fee

• Do not list every plumbing task you have ever done. Focus on geysers, drainage and CoCs, which is what these jobs pay for.
