Quality Sorter (Packaging Factory) – Entry Level

Good factory hands stay for years, and this meat processing plant in Isando trains from day one. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is a meat processing plant on the Isando side of Gauteng. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
• Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
• Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
• Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
• Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run

• Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage

• Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine
• Some basic first-aid training

• Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay
• Company transport on some night shifts
• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Path to machine operator after six months

• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
