Rapid Response Officer (Farm Security)

Serious work for a serious officer: armed response across a suburban residential area in Newcastle. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll report in Newcastle. Relocation is not covered for this one. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Write detailed incident reports on the tablet or in the vehicle logbook
• Do vehicle checks: tyres, fuel, lights and siren
• Drive the response vehicle safely at speed to client addresses
• Respond to alarm and panic signals sent by the control room
• Visit clients for key-holder checks and open-up requests
• Check the firearm in and out of the safe at shift start and end

• PSIRA Grade B or C with an armed response course
• Able to work 12-hour rotating shifts
• Calm under pressure and physically fit
• Clean criminal record and no pending cases
• SAPS firearm competency certificate for handguns (and shotgun if required)
• At least 2 years in guarding or response

• First-aid Level 2 or 3
• SAPS, SANDF or reservist background

• Danger and night allowances
• Regular refresher shooting practice
• Response vehicle and firearm provided

• Mention the areas you know well. Companies prefer officers who can find addresses fast without a GPS.
• Bring the originals of your certificates to the interview. Armed companies verify them before a shooting test.
