Rapid Response Officer (Farm Security)

When a panic button goes off in a suburban residential area in Somerset West, you are the one who arrives first. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at a suburban residential area in Somerset West. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Respond to alarm and panic signals sent by the control room
• Give first aid at an incident until paramedics take over
• Visit clients for key-holder checks and open-up requests
• Search the property perimeter and check doors, windows and gates
• Drive the response vehicle safely at speed to client addresses
• Do vehicle checks: tyres, fuel, lights and siren

• At least 2 years in guarding or response
• PSIRA Grade B or C with an armed response course
• Clean criminal record and no pending cases
• Able to work 12-hour rotating shifts
• SAPS firearm competency certificate for handguns (and shotgun if required)
• Calm under pressure and physically fit

• Advanced driving course
• SAPS, SANDF or reservist background

• Danger and night allowances
• Group life cover through the provident fund
• Regular refresher shooting practice

• Bring the originals of your certificates to the interview. Armed companies verify them before a shooting test.
• Mention the areas you know well. Companies prefer officers who can find addresses fast without a GPS.
