Retail Security Officer (Clothing Store)

You'll catch shoplifting and stock losses at a retail distribution centre in Brackenfell before they cost jobs. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll report in Brackenfell. Relocation is not covered for this one.

• Help with stock counts and point out loss hot-spots
• Attend court as a witness when a case goes to trial
• Search staff bags at exit points according to store policy
• Tag high-value stock and check security tags at the doors
• Share trends with the store manager each week
• Walk the floor in plain clothes and watch for shoplifting behaviour
• Record every incident with photos, times and value of goods

• Knowledge of lawful arrest and search under the Criminal Procedure Act
• Available for retail hours including month-end weekends
• PSIRA registration, Grade C at least
• Discreet, observant and honest
• Able to handle confrontation calmly
• Matric or equivalent NQF Level 4

• Understanding of stock systems and shrinkage reports
• Retail loss prevention course
• Experience giving evidence in court

• Plain clothes work (no uniform in detective roles)
• Retail trading hours, no night shift in most stores

• Keep your appearance low-key for the interview. Detectives need to blend in with shoppers.
• Give numbers on your CV: how many cases you opened, how many led to arrests. Retail security managers trust results.
