Retail in Centurion runs on thin margins, and a retail distribution centre needs someone guarding its stock. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is Centurion-based, with most of your time spent at a retail distribution centre.

• Walk the floor in plain clothes and watch for shoplifting behaviour
• Record every incident with photos, times and value of goods
• Attend court as a witness when a case goes to trial
• Tag high-value stock and check security tags at the doors
• Help with stock counts and point out loss hot-spots
• Search staff bags at exit points according to store policy
• Check receiving bay deliveries against invoices and seal numbers

• Matric or equivalent NQF Level 4
• Good report writing
• PSIRA registration, Grade C at least
• Discreet, observant and honest
• Able to handle confrontation calmly

• Previous store detective experience with case outcomes
• Experience giving evidence in court
• Retail loss prevention course

• Monthly recovery incentives
• Retail trading hours, no night shift in most stores
• Staff discount at the retailer
• Plain clothes work (no uniform in detective roles)

• Give numbers on your CV: how many cases you opened, how many led to arrests. Retail security managers trust results.
• Keep your appearance low-key for the interview. Detectives need to blend in with shoppers.
