Job Description

This microlender call centre in Soweto needs a calm negotiator who can hear "no" without giving up. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The site is in Soweto; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

What you'll actually do

Update debtor contact details from tracing searches.
Hand accounts over for legal action once internal steps are exhausted.
Send written arrangements by SMS or email straight after each call.
Negotiate payment arrangements and set up DebiCheck mandates.
Dial through your arrears book on the auto-dialler and confirm the debtor's identity.
Report daily on rands collected, contacts made and arrangements set.

You'll need

Target-driven and comfortable with commission
Good with numbers, dates and payment calculations
At least 6 months in collections, sales or a call centre
You keep your tone respectful even when the debtor is not
Registered, or willing to register, with the Council for Debt Collectors
Clear credit and criminal record
