Refrigeration Technician (Commercial Cold Rooms)

You'll install, service and repair refrigeration and aircon systems across Somerset West. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll report in Somerset West. Relocation is not covered for this one. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Clean coils, replace filters and check drain lines on scheduled services
• Install split units, cassettes and ducted systems, including brazing and vacuum work
• Pressure test with nitrogen, pull a deep vacuum and charge with R410A, R32 or R134a
• Replace thermostatic expansion valves and electronic controllers
• Complete service reports on a tablet and have the site manager sign them

• Comfortable on roofs and ladders in summer heat
• Refrigeration and air-conditioning trade test or an NQF 4 occupational certificate
• Understanding of single- and three-phase control circuits
• At least 2 years servicing commercial or residential systems
• SAQCC Gas registration as an authorised person for refrigerants

• Transport refrigeration units on trucks and trailers
• Building management system alarm handling

• Standby pay for weekend fridge breakdowns
• Gauge manifold, vacuum pump and recovery unit issued to you
• Company vehicle with a fitted tool rack

• Say which refrigerants and system types you have worked on. A recruiter for supermarket work wants to see CO2 or large rack systems.
• Your SAQCC Gas card must be current. Put the expiry date on your CV so nobody has to ask.
