Refrigeration Technician (Commercial Cold Rooms)

The residential aircon installer in Worcester needs an HVAC technician who knows both the electrical side and the refrigerant side. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

Location: Worcester, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Install split units, cassettes and ducted systems, including brazing and vacuum work
• Clean coils, replace filters and check drain lines on scheduled services
• Service cold rooms, display fridges and freezers on planned maintenance routes
• Recover refrigerant into cylinders and log every kilogram used
• Respond to temperature alarms from cold rooms before stock is lost

• Code 08 driver's licence, since the job is mostly on the road
• Understanding of single- and three-phase control circuits
• Brazing, flaring and vacuum skills you can demonstrate
• Comfortable on roofs and ladders in summer heat
• At least 2 years servicing commercial or residential systems
• SAQCC Gas registration as an authorised person for refrigerants

• Transport refrigeration units on trucks and trailers
• Experience with VRF systems or chillers

• Gauge manifold, vacuum pump and recovery unit issued to you
• Company vehicle with a fitted tool rack
• Standby pay for weekend fridge breakdowns

• Mention whether you are comfortable on standby. Most service jobs in this trade include it.
• Your SAQCC Gas card must be current. Put the expiry date on your CV so nobody has to ask.
