Job Description

Patients in this provincial district hospital in Epping count on your clinical judgement every single shift. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

The site is in Epping; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying.

What you'll actually do

  • Do wound care, catheter care and IV line management to unit protocol
  • Prepare patients for theatre and receive them back from recovery
  • Do full patient assessments and update nursing care plans every shift
  • Keep clinical notes clear, timed and signed for audits and legal records
  • Admit and discharge patients and explain medication and follow-up to families
  • Monitor vital signs, fluid balance and early warning scores, and escalate changes quickly
  • Run emergency trolley checks and respond to cardiac arrest calls

Must-haves

  • Solid knowledge of medication safety and the Nursing Act scope of practice
  • At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience
  • Nursing qualification via the R425 diploma or R174 degree route
  • Calm under pressure when a patient's condition turns quickly
  • Current SANC registration as a Professional Nurse, with this year's annual fees paid
  • Valid BLS certificate; ACLS or PALS for ICU and emergency posts

On offer

  • Night-shift and weekend allowances on top of basic pay
  • Study support for post-basic specialities
  • Paid SANC annual fees at some groups
  • Funded CPD points and in-house clinical training

Applying, step by step

  1. Check you meet the must-haves first; recruiters filter on those before anything else.
  2. Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: current BLS or ACLS card, proof of completed community service plus certified copies of your nursing qualification and ID.
  3. Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
  4. Keep your phone on. Shortlisted applicants are contacted by call, SMS or WhatsApp within 10 working days.
