Registered Nurse (Night Duty)

You'll run patient care on a busy shift at a mine health centre in Brackenfell, from admission to discharge. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll be based at a mine health centre in Brackenfell. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Do wound care, catheter care and IV line management to unit protocol
• Report adverse events and near misses on the incident system the same day
• Run emergency trolley checks and respond to cardiac arrest calls
• Take part in ward rounds with doctors and record the new orders
• Admit and discharge patients and explain medication and follow-up to families
• Prepare patients for theatre and receive them back from recovery
• Monitor vital signs, fluid balance and early warning scores, and escalate changes quickly

• Nursing qualification via the R425 diploma or R174 degree route
• You can work 12-hour day or night shifts, weekends and public holidays
• Clean criminal record
• Valid BLS certificate; ACLS or PALS for ICU and emergency posts

• Study support for post-basic specialities
• Funded CPD points and in-house clinical training
• Paid SANC annual fees at some groups

• For night-duty posts, say clearly in your cover note that you want permanent nights, as many applicants only want days.
• List your speciality skills in plain words, such as "ventilated patients" or "normal deliveries", instead of just the ward name.
