Renewable Energy Engineer (Solar PV)

The manufacturing plant in Pinetown needs an electrical engineer for projects that go from design to commissioning. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is in Pinetown (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
• Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
• Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
• Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2
• Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
• Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms

• Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
• Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
• BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
• At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
• Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites

• Protection or HV operating authorisation
• Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)

• Flexible hours on design days
• Vehicle allowance for site work
• Clear path to associate or senior engineer

• Name the software you use for power system studies and lighting design. Consultants screen for exact tools.
• List projects with their voltage level, size in kVA or MW, and whether you designed, supervised or commissioned.
