Job Description

This road agency project office in East London needs someone who can check a design and then go and check it was built right. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is in East London (Eastern Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What your day looks like

Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
Write design reports and handover documents
Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162
Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals

Must-haves

Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
