Job Description

This civil engineering consultancy in Kimberley needs someone who can check a design and then go and check it was built right. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Home base is a civil engineering consultancy on the Kimberley side of Northern Cape.

What your day looks like

Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue
Write design reports and handover documents
Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts

Must-haves

Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision

Nice if you have

Registration with SAICE and active CPD
Contract management training for NEC or GCC
