Job Description

Roads, water, buildings: the civil engineering consultancy in Vereeniging needs a civil engineer who can take a project from design to site. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll be based at a civil engineering consultancy in Vereeniging. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What your day looks like

Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue
Write design reports and handover documents
Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals

What you need

Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
