Restaurant Waitron (Steakhouse)

You'll look after tables at a wine farm restaurant in Alberton, from the first greeting to the final bill. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Location: Alberton, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Restock the bar fridges and help with the weekly stock count.
• Carry plates to the right seat without auctioning food at the table.
• Take orders on the POS tablet and read them back to avoid kitchen mistakes.
• Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
• Set tables, polish cutlery and glasses, and check condiments before doors open.
• Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
• Greet guests, seat them and hand over menus within a minute of arrival.

• You can stand and walk for a full 8-hour shift
• Quick with basic maths and card machines
• At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
• Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus

• A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans
• Wine knowledge from a WSET Level 1 or wine farm stint

• You keep your own tips, paid out daily or weekly
• Staff meal on every shift
• Late-shift lift home within a set radius
• Paid menu and wine tastings so you can sell with confidence

• Put the names of the restaurants you worked at and your average covers per shift at the top of your CV.
