Job Description

You'll look after tables at a sports bar and grill in Mthatha, from the first greeting to the final bill. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Location: Mthatha, Eastern Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What you'll actually do

Split bills, process card payments and handle tip-outs at the end of shift.
Clear, wipe and reset tables fast during the Friday and Sunday rush.
Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
Greet guests, seat them and hand over menus within a minute of arrival.
Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
Restock the bar fridges and help with the weekly stock count.

Must-haves

You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
You can stand and walk for a full 8-hour shift
Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus

Helpful, not essential

A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans
Responsible Service of Alcohol training
