Job Description

Shrinkage hurts every building-supplies store; in Secunda, you would be the one tracking it down. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Location: Secunda, Mpumalanga. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

The work, day to day

Search staff bags at exit points according to store policy
Walk the floor in plain clothes and watch for shoplifting behaviour
Help with stock counts and point out loss hot-spots
Detain suspects lawfully and call SAPS, then write a statement
Share trends with the store manager each week
Review CCTV footage to confirm suspected theft
Record every incident with photos, times and value of goods

What you need

Knowledge of lawful arrest and search under the Criminal Procedure Act
Able to handle confrontation calmly
Discreet, observant and honest
PSIRA registration, Grade C at least

Extra points for

Experience giving evidence in court
Previous store detective experience with case outcomes
Understanding of stock systems and shrinkage reports
