Retail Security Officer (Clothing Store)

You'll catch shoplifting and stock losses at a building-supplies store in Worcester before they cost jobs. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Worcester-based, with most of your time spent at a building-supplies store.

• Help with stock counts and point out loss hot-spots
• Attend court as a witness when a case goes to trial
• Detain suspects lawfully and call SAPS, then write a statement
• Check receiving bay deliveries against invoices and seal numbers
• Review CCTV footage to confirm suspected theft

• Knowledge of lawful arrest and search under the Criminal Procedure Act
• Able to handle confrontation calmly
• PSIRA registration, Grade C at least
• Good report writing
• Matric or equivalent NQF Level 4
• Discreet, observant and honest

• Plain clothes work (no uniform in detective roles)
• Staff discount at the retailer
• Retail trading hours, no night shift in most stores

• Keep your appearance low-key for the interview. Detectives need to blend in with shoppers.
• Give numbers on your CV: how many cases you opened, how many led to arrests. Retail security managers trust results.
