Job Description

You'll keep machines, conveyors and shafts running at the coal mine engineering workshop near Rustenburg. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

Home base is a coal mine engineering workshop on the Rustenburg side of North West.

The work, day to day

Order spares and track them through the engineering store
Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles
Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers
Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls

What you need

Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work

Helpful, not essential

Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM
SAP PM module experience
Flameproof equipment training for coal mines
