Job Description

You'll keep machines, conveyors and shafts running at the iron ore mine maintenance workshop near Secunda. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is in Secunda (Mpumalanga). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

What you'll actually do

Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles
Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface
Order spares and track them through the engineering store
Complete job cards and work orders in SAP after each task
Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls
Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure

You'll need

Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)

Nice if you have

Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM
Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress
