Job Description

You'll move earth, dig trenches and shape roads for the bulk earthworks contractor in Cape Town CBD. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a bulk earthworks contractor on the Cape Town CBD side of Western Cape. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What your day looks like

Grease the machine daily and report leaks or damage straight away
Record machine hours and fuel on the daily plant sheet
Park the machine on level ground and lock it when you knock off
Cut and trim road layers to level with the grader
Do the pre-start checklist on your machine before the first bucket
Watch for underground services and follow the banksman's signals

You'll need

At least 2 years operating the machine on construction sites
Medical certificate of fitness for operating mobile plant
Operator certificate for the machine class, from an accredited training provider
Can read grade pegs and understand cut and fill

Nice if you have

PrDP for tipper or lowbed work
Basic plant maintenance or mechanical knowledge
Certificates on more than one machine type
