Job Description

Behind every truck on the road is a controller; at a road freight company in Brits, that could be you. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

The site is in Brits; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What you'll actually do

  • Update customers on delivery times and delays
  • Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
  • Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
  • Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
  • Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers

Must-haves

  • Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
  • Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
  • Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
  • Good with Excel and email

Extra points for

  • Knowledge of cross-border documentation
  • Logistics or supply chain certificate
  • Transport management system (TMS) experience

What you get

  • Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
  • Growth to transport manager
  • Office-based work with a steady roster

Applying, step by step

  1. Read the "What you need" list above. If you tick most of it, go ahead and apply.
  2. Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): a CV showing the size of fleet you worked with plus matric certificate and ID.
  3. Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
  4. Keep your phone on. Shortlisted applicants are contacted by call, SMS or WhatsApp within 8 working days.
