Job Description

You'll plan the loads and watch the trucks for a bus and coach operator in Mamelodi, keeping every trip on time. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

The site is in Mamelodi; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

  • Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
  • Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
  • Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
  • Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
  • Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
  • Update customers on delivery times and delays

You'll need

  • Good with Excel and email
  • Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
  • At least 2 years in transport or logistics
  • Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
  • Knowledge of South African road freight regulations

Nice if you have

  • Knowledge of cross-border documentation
  • Experience on a vehicle telematics platform
  • Previous truck driving experience

What you get

  • Growth to transport manager
  • Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
  • Training on the fleet and tracking systems

How to apply

  1. Check you meet the must-haves first; recruiters filter on those before anything else.
  2. Keep copies of these ready to send: matric certificate and ID plus logistics qualifications.
  3. Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
  4. Watch for a call or WhatsApp from How2Apply over the next 5 working days.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Mamelodi.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

How to stand out

  • If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
  • Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
