Route Planner (Last-Mile Deliveries)

Behind every truck on the road is a controller; at a road freight company in Sandton, that could be you. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Location: Sandton, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Update customers on delivery times and delays

• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• Calm and decisive when things go wrong
• Good with Excel and email

• Knowledge of cross-border documentation
• Logistics or supply chain certificate
• Experience on a vehicle telematics platform

• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Growth to transport manager
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts

• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
• Mention the tracking and Excel skills you have. Bring an example report if you are allowed to share one.
