Route Planner (Last-Mile Deliveries)

Behind every truck on the road is a controller; at a bus and coach operator in Vereeniging, that could be you. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

You'll be based at a bus and coach operator in Vereeniging. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
• Update customers on delivery times and delays

• Calm and decisive when things go wrong
• Matric
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers

• Knowledge of cross-border documentation
• Experience on a vehicle telematics platform

• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Growth to transport manager

• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
