Job Description

The gold tailings retreatment operation near Centurion needs someone who knows the MHSA inside out and can coach crews. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is a gold tailings retreatment operation on the Centurion side of Gauteng. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

What your day looks like

Prepare for inspections by the mine inspector and follow up on instructions
Help run emergency drills and check refuge bays
Inspect workplaces underground and on surface against the MHSA and the mine's standards
Lead incident investigations using a root cause method
Take dust, noise and heat measurements with the occupational hygiene team
Keep legal appointments and code of practice records current
Check that crews do planned task observations and pre-shift checks

You'll need

Registered with SAIOSH, or working toward it
Code 08 licence for moving around the mine property
SAMTRAC or an MQA-accredited mine safety qualification
Confident writing investigation reports and presenting findings
Certificate of fitness to go underground or into the pit
