Job Description

Plan inspections, lead investigations and build a safer shift culture at the gold tailings retreatment operation near Epping. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Location: Epping, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What you'll actually do

Lead incident investigations using a root cause method
Prepare for inspections by the mine inspector and follow up on instructions
Track safety statistics like LTIFR and report them each month
Take dust, noise and heat measurements with the occupational hygiene team
Inspect workplaces underground and on surface against the MHSA and the mine's standards
Help run emergency drills and check refuge bays

Must-haves

Registered with SAIOSH, or working toward it
At least 3 years in a safety role at a mine
Code 08 licence for moving around the mine property
Confident writing investigation reports and presenting findings

Extra points for

Mine rescue training
Occupational hygiene registration with the relevant council
