Safety Coordinator (Processing Plant)

Zero harm needs people who go into the workings. This open-pit coal mine near Burgersfort needs you. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Home base is an open-pit coal mine on the Burgersfort side of Limpopo. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Review baseline and issue-based risk assessments with section managers
• Track safety statistics like LTIFR and report them each month
• Check that crews do planned task observations and pre-shift checks
• Prepare for inspections by the mine inspector and follow up on instructions
• Lead incident investigations using a root cause method
• Take dust, noise and heat measurements with the occupational hygiene team
• Help run emergency drills and check refuge bays

• Detailed knowledge of the MHSA and its regulations
• SAMTRAC or an MQA-accredited mine safety qualification
• Code 08 licence for moving around the mine property
• Confident writing investigation reports and presenting findings

• ISO 45001 auditing experience
• Mine rescue training
• Occupational hygiene registration with the relevant council

• Company vehicle on site
• Standby allowance for incident call-outs
• CPD and further study funded
• Retirement fund and medical aid

• Mention the commodity and whether you worked underground. Mines prefer someone who knows their hazards.
