Safety Coordinator (Processing Plant) – Experienced

Plan inspections, lead investigations and build a safer shift culture at the deep-level platinum shaft near Kuruman. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The site is in Kuruman; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying.

• Track safety statistics like LTIFR and report them each month
• Review baseline and issue-based risk assessments with section managers
• Keep legal appointments and code of practice records current
• Help run emergency drills and check refuge bays
• Prepare for inspections by the mine inspector and follow up on instructions
• Train safety representatives and support the health and safety committee

• Code 08 licence for moving around the mine property
• Registered with SAIOSH, or working toward it
• SAMTRAC or an MQA-accredited mine safety qualification
• Certificate of fitness to go underground or into the pit
• At least 3 years in a safety role at a mine

• Mine rescue training
• ISO 45001 auditing experience
• Diploma or degree in Safety Management or Environmental Health

• Company vehicle on site
• Retirement fund and medical aid
• CPD and further study funded
• Standby allowance for incident call-outs

• Show your mining sector safety experience clearly. Construction-only safety CVs are often moved to the no pile.
• Mention the commodity and whether you worked underground. Mines prefer someone who knows their hazards.
