Electrician (Mine Plant & Shafts) – Fixed-Term

Planned maintenance, breakdowns and shutdowns: steady artisan work at the platinum mine engineering department near Kuruman. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Kuruman-based, with most of your time spent at a platinum mine engineering department.

• Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles
• Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
• Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface
• Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers
• Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure

• Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
• Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
• Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
• Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
• Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
• N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science

• Flameproof equipment training for coal mines
• Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress

• Artisan allowance on top of basic pay
• Study assistance for engineering qualifications
• Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox
• Housing support in the mining town

• Your trade test certificate must show the trade and the date. Keep a certified copy ready because mines verify it.
• State your trade and the machines or equipment you know best, for example "fitter: conveyors, crushers and pumps".
