Control Room Operator (Metallurgical Plant)

Plant work suits people who watch the numbers and react fast. The gold processing plant near Kathu needs you. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

This post is in Kathu (Northern Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Adjust reagent dosing and air flow to hit recovery targets
• Watch mill loads, cell levels and densities on the SCADA screens
• Hand over the plant to the next shift with a clear status report
• Log plant readings and downtime on the shift log
• Check pumps, cyclones and thickeners on the plant walk
• Call maintenance for bearing noise, belt damage or leaks

• At least 1 year operating a processing plant
• Willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays
• Grade 12 with mathematics and physical science
• MQA minerals processing certificate at NQF 2 or higher
• Certificate of fitness from the mine medical station
• Basic computer skills for SCADA screens and logs

• N4 to N6 or a diploma in Extraction Metallurgy
• Forklift or overhead crane licence

• Transport from surrounding towns
• Medical aid and pension fund
• Learnership opportunities toward a metallurgy qualification
