Job Description

You'll make safety real on the ground at the mining contractor on a platinum lease near Mahikeng, not just on paper. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Home base is a mining contractor on a platinum lease on the Mahikeng side of North West.

What your day looks like

Help run emergency drills and check refuge bays
Take dust, noise and heat measurements with the occupational hygiene team
Review baseline and issue-based risk assessments with section managers
Inspect workplaces underground and on surface against the MHSA and the mine's standards
Check that crews do planned task observations and pre-shift checks
Track safety statistics like LTIFR and report them each month
Keep legal appointments and code of practice records current

What you need

Detailed knowledge of the MHSA and its regulations
Registered with SAIOSH, or working toward it
At least 3 years in a safety role at a mine
Code 08 licence for moving around the mine property
