Safety Officer (Open Pit Operations)

Zero harm needs people who go into the workings. This deep-level platinum shaft near Rustenburg needs you. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

The work is in Rustenburg, North West, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Keep legal appointments and code of practice records current
• Track safety statistics like LTIFR and report them each month
• Prepare for inspections by the mine inspector and follow up on instructions
• Review baseline and issue-based risk assessments with section managers
• Inspect workplaces underground and on surface against the MHSA and the mine's standards

• At least 3 years in a safety role at a mine
• Detailed knowledge of the MHSA and its regulations
• Confident writing investigation reports and presenting findings
• Certificate of fitness to go underground or into the pit
• Code 08 licence for moving around the mine property

• Diploma or degree in Safety Management or Environmental Health
• Mine rescue training
• Occupational hygiene registration with the relevant council

• CPD and further study funded
• Company vehicle on site
