Safety Representative Coordinator (Road Works)

Safety files, inspections and toolbox talks: this road construction project in Durban Central needs someone who can do all three well. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll report in Durban Central. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height
• Investigate incidents and near misses and report them on time
• Compile and maintain the site health and safety file under the Construction Regulations 2014
• Prepare monthly safety statistics for the client's agent
• Keep appointment letters and competency certificates in the file
• Audit subcontractor safety files before they start work

• At least 2 years as a safety officer on construction sites
• You write clear reports in English
• First Aid Level 1 at least
• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification

• Laptop and data for reporting
• Travel and site allowances
• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD
• Clear growth path to a construction health and safety agent role

• Bring a sample risk assessment or safety file index you drew up (remove client names). It shows your work better than a list.
• Put your SACPCMP registration number and category first. Many CVs without it are rejected without being read.
