Job Description

You'll plant, prune and fell trees for a fire protection association in the hills near Richards Bay. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll be based at a fire protection association in Richards Bay. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What you'll actually do

Sharpen and service chainsaws daily
Prune lower branches with pruning saws and ladders
Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw
Feed logs into sawmill machines and stack planks
Plant seedlings in prepared pits at the right spacing

You'll need

Passes the medical check for fire crews
Valid ID
Able to work in a crew and follow the crew leader
Willing to work in remote areas
Physically strong and fit for steep slopes

Nice if you have

Chainsaw operator certificate
Fire fighting training
