Sawmill General Worker

Timber keeps rural towns working, and an eucalyptus plantation near Secunda is hiring crews. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

Location: Secunda, Mpumalanga. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Stack logs by length for loading onto trucks
• Feed logs into sawmill machines and stack planks
• Sharpen and service chainsaws daily
• Wear chainsaw chaps, helmets and ear protection at all times
• Apply herbicide around young trees as instructed
• Fight veld fires with beaters and water packs under a crew leader
• Plant seedlings in prepared pits at the right spacing

• Passes the medical check for fire crews
• Available for early starts and fire-season standby
• Able to work in a crew and follow the crew leader
• Follows safety rules strictly around machines and fires
• Physically strong and fit for steep slopes
• Willing to work in remote areas
