Seasonal Fruit Picker (Citrus Harvest) – Experienced

Crops do not wait, and a berry tunnel farm near Kuruman needs extra hands this season. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

You'll report in Kuruman. Relocation is not covered for this one. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Tie up tomato and pepper plants in tunnels
• Follow the re-entry times after spraying, as the signs show
• Plant seedlings in rows at the spacing shown
• Keep your picking card or tag count for daily pay
• Clean and store picking bags, ladders and secateurs
• Weed beds by hand or with a hoe
• Fill crates or bins and carry them to the collection point

• Careful with fruit, since bruised fruit is rejected
• Available for the full harvest season
• Follows farm hygiene and safety rules
• Willing to start at sunrise
• Able to work outdoors in heat, cold and rain
• Physically fit for bending, lifting and climbing ladders

• Living on or near the farm
• Tractor or quad bike experience

• Chance of a permanent post after good seasons
• Piece-rate bonus on top of daily wage
• Seasonal accommodation on some farms

• Farms hire before the season starts, so apply four to six weeks early. Late arrivals often find the teams already full.
• If you have picked before, say which crop and how many seasons. Farms rehire experienced pickers first.
