Section Miner (Chrome Mine)

Have a blasting certificate and a clean safety record? The mechanised hard-rock mine near Harrismith needs your crew leadership. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll report in Harrismith. Relocation is not covered for this one. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Do the early entry examination and make the workplace safe before the crew enters
• Record face advance, tons broken and support installed on the shift report
• Hold a start-of-shift safety talk and deal with any unsafe condition
• Test for flammable gas and check ventilation before and after blasting
• Charge up holes and connect initiation systems for the blast
• Clear the area, post guards and blast on time as the blasting certificate allows

• Certificate of fitness from the mine medical station, including heat tolerance screening where required
• No serious safety transgressions in your record
• Able to lead a crew of 8 to 20 people in a language they understand
• Valid blasting certificate issued under the Mine Health and Safety Act
• At least 3 years underground, with at least 1 as a certificated miner

• Shift Supervisor certificate or Mine Overseer learning
• Experience in trackless mechanised sections

• Production bonus based on metres or square metres achieved
• Underground allowance for every shift below surface
• Medical aid and mine medical station access

• List each mine, commodity and mining method on your CV, like "conventional stoping, platinum, 4 years".
• Write your blasting certificate number and date of issue near the top of the CV.
