Section Miner (Chrome Mine) – Immediate Start

Underground, the miner sets the pace and the safety standard. This deep-level gold mine near Klerksdorp needs that person. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

The site is in Klerksdorp; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Clear the area, post guards and blast on time as the blasting certificate allows
• Mark off drilling holes to the standard pattern and check the drilling
• Charge up holes and connect initiation systems for the blast
• Report misfires straight away and handle them strictly by the procedure
• Stop work when a condition is unsafe, using your right to withdraw
• Record face advance, tons broken and support installed on the shift report
• Book explosives in and out of the magazine and keep the register accurate

• Able to lead a crew of 8 to 20 people in a language they understand
• Sound knowledge of your commodity's mining method and support standards
• Grade 12 or equivalent, plus the MQA-accredited miner training
• No serious safety transgressions in your record
• At least 3 years underground, with at least 1 as a certificated miner
• Certificate of fitness from the mine medical station, including heat tolerance screening where required

• Experience in trackless mechanised sections
• Shift Supervisor certificate or Mine Overseer learning

• Production bonus based on metres or square metres achieved
• Medical aid and mine medical station access
• Pension fund with employer contributions

• List each mine, commodity and mining method on your CV, like "conventional stoping, platinum, 4 years".
• Be honest about any section 54 stoppages you were involved in and what you changed after.
