Section Miner (Chrome Mine) – Immediate Start

This deep-level gold mine near Secunda needs a miner who makes every workplace safe before a single hole is drilled. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The site is in Secunda; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Clear the area, post guards and blast on time as the blasting certificate allows
• Bar down loose rock and install support to the section's support standard
• Book explosives in and out of the magazine and keep the register accurate
• Report misfires straight away and handle them strictly by the procedure
• Hold a start-of-shift safety talk and deal with any unsafe condition
• Test for flammable gas and check ventilation before and after blasting

• Able to lead a crew of 8 to 20 people in a language they understand
• At least 3 years underground, with at least 1 as a certificated miner
• Valid blasting certificate issued under the Mine Health and Safety Act
• No serious safety transgressions in your record

• Experience in trackless mechanised sections
• Shift Supervisor certificate or Mine Overseer learning

• Medical aid and mine medical station access
• Underground allowance for every shift below surface
• Pension fund with employer contributions
• Housing or living-out allowance

• Mines check your safety record with previous employers. Mention any safety awards or zero-harm periods your crew achieved.
• List each mine, commodity and mining method on your CV, like "conventional stoping, platinum, 4 years".
