Security Dispatcher (Armed Response)

From a chair in a remote video monitoring centre in eMalahleni, you guide officers in the field to where they are needed. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Location: eMalahleni, Mpumalanga. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Answer alarm signals and phone clients to verify them
• Log every event and action on the monitoring software
• Report camera faults and offline sites to the technicians
• Dispatch the nearest response vehicle over the radio
• Track stolen vehicles on the map and guide recovery teams
• Talk down intruders over on-site speakers when the system allows
• Monitor live CCTV feeds and zoom in on suspicious movement

• Clear speaking voice on radio and phone
• Matric
• No criminal convictions (vetting is done before you start)
• Computer literate and quick on a keyboard

• Experience on a CCTV or alarm monitoring platform
• Speaking more than one local language

• Shift allowance for nights
• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment
• Path to senior controller or supervisor
• Training on the monitoring software

• Show you can stay alert at night. If you have done night shift before without problems, say so.
• Mention any software you have used: alarm monitoring, CCTV or even call centre systems. Control rooms need people who learn screens fast.
