Security Dispatcher (Armed Response)

Sharp eyes and a calm voice are the tools of the trade at a remote video monitoring centre in Mthatha. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll be based at a remote video monitoring centre in Mthatha. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Report camera faults and offline sites to the technicians
• Hand over open incidents clearly at shift change
• Answer alarm signals and phone clients to verify them
• Monitor live CCTV feeds and zoom in on suspicious movement
• Keep call-out times and client passwords up to date
• Talk down intruders over on-site speakers when the system allows
• Log every event and action on the monitoring software

• Computer literate and quick on a keyboard
• Able to stay focused through 12-hour day and night shifts
• No criminal convictions (vetting is done before you start)
• PSIRA registration, Grade C or higher

• Experience on a CCTV or alarm monitoring platform
• Call centre work in the past
• CCTV operator short course

• Path to senior controller or supervisor
• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment
• Shift allowance for nights

• Show you can stay alert at night. If you have done night shift before without problems, say so.
• Some companies give a typing and map test. Practise finding streets on a map quickly before the interview.
