Senior Associate (Corporate and Mergers)

Take on a real caseload and build your name at a financial services company legal department in George. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is a financial services company legal department on the George side of Western Cape. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Negotiate settlements and draft settlement agreements
• Appear in the magistrate's court, CCMA, Labour Court or High Court as your matters need
• Supervise and train candidate attorneys and paralegals
• Advise clients on risk, settlement and next steps in plain language
• Record billable time and hit the monthly target
• Review company processes for POPIA and privacy compliance
• Brief counsel and prepare them for trial and opposed motions

• At least 2 years of post-admission experience in the relevant field
• Able to manage client relationships without a senior in the room
• Enrolled with the Legal Practice Council and holding a current Fidelity Fund certificate if you handle trust money
• Sound judgement under deadline pressure

• Certificate in data protection or compliance
• Experience on bank or insurer panels
• Notarial admission

• Lead with your admission year, practice area and the courts or forums you appear in.
• Give a short matter list with outcomes, stripped of client names, to prove your experience.
