Service Technician (Fast-Fit Centre)

You'll service, diagnose and repair cars in a busy franchised passenger vehicle dealership in Centurion. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at a franchised passenger vehicle dealership in Centurion. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts
• Quote extra work you find and pass it to the service advisor for approval
• Road test vehicles before and after repairs
• Diagnose engine, ABS and airbag faults with an OBD-II diagnostic scanner
• Keep your bay, tools and special service tools clean and counted

• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop
• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
• Code 08 licence so you can road test cars
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Your own basic toolbox
• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4

• Automatic gearbox or DSG repair experience
• Air-conditioning regas experience with SAQCC Gas registration
• High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training

• Productivity bonus on sold hours above target
• Tool allowance or tool insurance
• Manufacturer training courses paid by the dealer
• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates

• Do not leave gaps unexplained. Say if you were working for yourself or doing mobile repairs.
• Put your trade test date and the car brands you know best at the top of your CV.
