Job Description

You'll make safety real on the ground at the deep-level platinum shaft near Mbombela, not just on paper. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

Home base is a deep-level platinum shaft on the Mbombela side of Mpumalanga. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What you'll actually do

Check that crews do planned task observations and pre-shift checks
Keep legal appointments and code of practice records current
Help run emergency drills and check refuge bays
Review baseline and issue-based risk assessments with section managers
Train safety representatives and support the health and safety committee

You'll need

Detailed knowledge of the MHSA and its regulations
Registered with SAIOSH, or working toward it
Certificate of fitness to go underground or into the pit
Confident writing investigation reports and presenting findings
Code 08 licence for moving around the mine property
At least 3 years in a safety role at a mine

Helpful, not essential

Occupational hygiene registration with the relevant council
ISO 45001 auditing experience
Diploma or degree in Safety Management or Environmental Health
